Overview

DailySteps (“the App”), for iPhone and Android, is developed by Saurabh Sharma, an independent developer publishing as techbysaurabh. This privacy policy explains how the App handles your data on both platforms.

In short: DailySteps does not collect, store or share any personal data. All your data stays on your device.

Data access on iPhone

Apple Health: step count

  • The App reads your step count data from Apple Health to display your daily, weekly and monthly activity.
  • This data is read-only. The App does not write or modify any Health data.
  • This data is never transmitted off your device.

Motion & Fitness

  • The App uses your device's motion sensors to provide real-time step counting while the App is open.
  • This data is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

Data access on Android

DailySteps for Android reads your step count from Health Connect (read-only) and from your phone's step sensor. It uses this data only to show your daily steps, history, goals and streaks on your phone. The app has no internet access: your data is never sent to us or anyone else, never sold or shared, and never used for advertising. DailySteps doesn't write to Health Connect or read any other health data. DailySteps' use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can revoke access at any time in Settings > Security and privacy > Privacy > Health Connect > App permissions > DailySteps (the path varies by phone), and uninstalling DailySteps removes all its data from your phone.

Health Connect: step count

  • The App requests a single Health Connect permission, read access to Steps, to display your daily, weekly and monthly activity, goals and streaks.
  • The App writes nothing to Health Connect and reads no other health data.
  • Phones running Samsung Health, Google Fit, Fitbit and similar apps share their steps through Health Connect; the App only reads what those apps have recorded.
  • Health Connect data is used only inside the App. It is not shared, sold or transferred, and it is not used for advertising.

Physical activity: step sensor

  • The App uses the phone's step-counter sensor to provide live step updates while the App is open.
  • This data is processed locally on your phone and is never transmitted anywhere.

Notifications (optional)

  • If you turn them on, the App schedules a daily reminder and a “streak at risk” nudge on the device and re-arms them after a restart. No notification service or server is involved.

Data collection

DailySteps does not collect any data. Specifically:

  • No personal information is collected
  • No usage analytics or tracking
  • No advertising identifiers
  • No crash reports sent to external services
  • No data is transmitted to any server
  • No third-party SDKs or services are used
  • The Android App requests no internet permission, so it cannot send data anywhere

Data storage and deletion

Your preferences (such as your daily step goal) are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage. This data is not accessible to anyone other than you and is not backed up to any external server.

On Android, settings and streaks are stored only on the phone. Android backup is turned off for the App, so they are not copied to Google Drive.

Uninstalling the App deletes its data. Your step history stays in Apple Health or Health Connect and your fitness app, which you control. You can also revoke the App's access at any time: on iPhone in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health, and on Android in Settings > Security and privacy > Privacy > Health Connect > App permissions > DailySteps (the path varies by phone), or simply uninstall the App.

Third-party services

DailySteps does not use any third-party services, analytics or advertising frameworks.

Children's privacy

DailySteps does not collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
